Argentina is the country in South America with the largest number of golf courses, most of these with an outstanding world reputation and quality.
The golf traveler can combine his favorite sport with visits to the most spectacular highlights Argentina has to offer in its many natural and urban scenarios
Argentina mixes culture with impressive golf scene
It’s about teeing off against the spectacular backdrop of the Andes, glacier-fed lakes and verdant forests. It can also be about exploring the tango parlors and nightlife of Buenos Aires, the so-called "Paris of South America." If you go, partake of it all. Many of the golf courses are in the midst of breathtaking scenery and with plenty of après-play. Patagonia’s Llao Llao Golf Resort, for instance, is located within the Nahuel Huapi National Park, with its enormous crystal-blue lake and a diversity of flora and fauna that'll knock your softspikes off.
GOLF REGIONS
Argentina is a more than interesting golf destination, with over 300 golf courses, most of them of worldwide quality that will assure an exciting golf experience in our country.
Though Argentina is an extremely big country to discover we can mention the following most important golf areas:
- Buenos Aires Area
- Patagonia Area
- Iguazu Waterfalls Area
- Mendoza & Wine Area
- Cordoba Area
Among the most interesting places to visit we recommend the Patagonia Area. Patagonia is a region in the southern part of Argentina and one of the biggest destinations for both national and international tourists. There you can see the incredible nature that the country has and you may do different activities depending on the time of the year such as golf in summer or ski in winter.
Another quite attractive destination is Mendoza . This province is the widest wine area of the country. By being less than two hours away from Buenos Aires it makes a great destination not only for golf but also for short trips to taste the best wines in Argentina.

Buenos Aires is a charming city with a strong influence of most of the main European cities. Beautiful walks, avenues, parks, monumental buildings, pavement cafes, museums and churches gathered in 26 districts, each with it’s own distinct personality, gives her a truly cosmopolitan air. The northern quarter resembles the most elegant areas of Paris, May Avenue and it’s innumerable cafes houses revives the flavour of Madrid’s Gran Via, the shady Belgrano streets recall the distinguished Londoners suburb, Naples seem to be present in the noisy and coloured La Boca quarter, etc.
DAY 2: Breakfast and transfer to Pilar GC.
It is located in one of the new fashion areas around Buenos Aires. Pilar offers a modern, very elegant and exclusive Country Golf Club, easy to reach from Buenos Aires Capital City.
This American style 7221 yards long field will test your power distance as well of your short game on its 18 championship holes built on more than 247 acres, that were inaugurated in 1993 plus an additional 9-hole course was opened recently. Players have to use the electric carts.
It also has a quite impressive, luxurious and large club-house with several services for golfers. On 2007 this course hosted the Argentine Open.
Afternoon at leisure.
DAY 3: Breakfast and transfer to Olivos GC.
It´s considered the best golf course in Argentina, it is ranked 59th (best ranking for an Argentine Golf Course) on the Golf Digest´s “best golf courses outside US.”.
The course currently has 27 holes and it’s considered one of the best in South America for its beauty, tight fairways and sloppy greens. Olivos Golf has been host of international tournaments such as the Masters -first in South America- the “Abierto de la Republica”, the “copa los Andes”, among others. It has also been played by the best European and American players.
Red course holes 12 and 13 may not be so hard but they will prepare you for the great hole 15, one of the 2 holes in Argentina that are ranked between the best 500 in the world. Then you will have a breathe at 16 after you get to the 17, a par 3 with 209 yards that needs to be flown “tee to Green” or you will end up in some of its 4 bunkers.
This course will host the Golf World Cup on 2010.
Afternoon at leisure.
DAY 4: Breakfast and transfer to Jockey Club.
Probably the most prestigious Golf Club in Argentina.
Founded in 1880 Jockey club has 36 holes created by Augusta national designer, Allister Mackenzie. Both courses (blue and red) will test your strategy skills amogn with your driving accuracy. Host of the most important tournaments, such as the “Abierto de la República”, the World Cup, the European Tour and the amateurs’ championships. The Jockey Club also proved its hardness with some of the best golfers in history such as Arnold Palmer, Sam Snead, Tom Watson, Gary Player, Craig Stadler, Byron Nelson, Sergio Garcia and many others.
In 2005 Golf digest ranked The Jockey Club Red Course as one of the best 100 courses around the world.
Afternoon at leisure.
DAY 5: Breakfast and transfer to Buenos Aires GC.
Ranked 79th out of the “Best 100 Golf Courses outside US”, Buenos Aires Golf Club and it´s facilities will guarantee a great golf experience if of course you are not afraid to get a little wet on the big hazards that the golf course has.”
In its short 10 years of life it has had the opportunity to be the host of the World Cup EMC2, in December of 2000. At that time, many of the best golfers in the world took part of the event, among other we can mention Tiger Woods and David Duval.
Designed by the Architect Robert Jon Hagge, it represents a great challenge for the players, due to the multiplicity of tee offs that each hole has to offer, making the course very versatile and able to adapt to all kind of styles.
The course has 27 holes, and nine lakes - all interconnected to each other. It is an attractive, varied and challenging course.
The Ninth hole on the Blue Course is especially interesting. From this hole it is necessary to make a long tee off over the water hazard to land in a narrow fairway that has even more water on the other side. And from there, it is necessary to aim directly for the green.
